clinical offerings + areas of focus.

There are many reasons we find our way to therapy — but often, something in our life has shifted.

Sometimes the shift is clear. Other times, it happens gradually; we notice more stress, less capacity, or that something doesn’t feel the way it used to. And sometimes, there isn’t one clear reason at all (because, life).

Therapy offers space to explore and better understand what we’re experiencing and what has changed — all while building our capacity to navigate and respond to what life brings. And with Shift Mental Health, that space is your own; we offer virtual therapy for clients throughout Minnesota, so you can connect from somewhere that feels comfortable and familiar that fits into your life.

our work often centers around experiences of:

grief + loss

Grief can follow the death of someone we love, but it can also emerge through changes in relationships, health, identity, family, roles, or the life we expected to have. Change carries grief. Therapy offers support in navigating both life after loss and living with loss.

life transitions + shifts

Life is full of transitions — some chosen, some expected, and others we never saw coming. These changes can leave us adjusting to a life that looks or feels different than it once did. Therapy offers space to understand what has shifted and find steadiness (and perhaps, ourselves) within change.

perinatal mental health

The perinatal season is all-encompassing, and can hold so many coexisting emotions at once — joy, anticipation, love, grief, exhaustion, and sometimes, feelings or thoughts we never expected to have. Pregnancy and postpartum can bring significant shifts in our bodies, relationships, identities, and emotional well-being. Therapy with Shift offers space for all of it, without expectation for how it is supposed to feel (modern-day motherhood is NUTS).

women’s well-being

Women carry A LOT. Relationships, careers, caregiving, mental load, and the expectations we’re (somehow) supposed to meet can leave little space to consider where am I in all of this? Therapy offers space to de-load, reconnect with yourself outside of those roles, and consider what you need — not just what everyone else needs from you.

anxiety + stress

Stress and anxiety are part of being human, especially in such uncertain (and honestly, sometimes scary) times. But when they begin to take up more space than we’d like, it can become difficult to feel present or connected to ourselves. Therapy can provide better understanding of what we are experiencing, quiet some of the noise, and respond to stress and uncertainty in ways that feel more grounded (and less control-oriented).

depression

We live in the most interconnected time in history, yet feeling alone and disconnected runs rampant. Depression can bring a heaviness that makes it harder to connect — with others, with ourselves, or with a sense of meaning and purpose in our lives. Engaging in therapy can help us reconnect with what matters, cultivate meaning and connection, and perhaps, find a little more lightness.
